Strikes. A strike is the refusal of an organized body of workmen to continue their work except on certain wrong and some people denounce strikes as always wrong and put down by foten say they should be forbidden by law and put down by force. Such people know nothing of and history of strikes nor of the great benefit they have secured for the working classes. Strikes are a natural result of our modern industrial system. They came into fashion with the present age of machinery and large factories. Before workmen had learned the secret of combination they were at the mercy of their rich and powerful employers who kept waves low and forced them to work long hours. They could do this because each individual employer. It he did not agree to the were employer hard termen employer. It he did not agree to the employee hard to take his place. He must submit or starve then the workmen learnt that unity was strength and they banded themselves into organized societies called trades unions Formerly when a single workmen demanded higher wages he was promptly kicked out but what all the workmen in a factory struch in a body or refused to work.

Shri LAL Bahadur Shastri. After the death of PT. Jawahar LAL Nehru, sh. LAL Bahadur Shastri was chosen to bece the Prime Minis tee of India. In the begining people thought that he would he was short statutes and hardly had he visited any for eign country. But this brave son of India won hearts of the masses of India and abroad. He discharged his duties with full devotion and confidence. He took hard decisions with ease. Thus this pocket sized Prime Minister scaled the heights of the Himalayas by his performance. In a Kayasth family in Uttar Pradesh Shri LAL Bahadur Shastri was born on octOcto2, 1904 in a poor famy of the teachers. His father had died when he was a small chil and he was brought up by his uncle. After ori Mary eduction in the village he went to high school at Varanasi. He attended the school crossing the river Ganga by boat. But when he had money for the boat he swam across the river and attended the school. He was a brilliant student. He responded on the call of Mahatma Gandhi and joined the youths of the country. As such, he had to leave his studies. But later on he took his Shastri degree from Kashi vidyapith Varanasi. He was a patriot in true sense and worked honestly and sincerely. He later on came in contact with great leaders like Gandhi Nehru Govind ballabh pant and others and impressed them by his sincerity and work.  Shri LAL Bahadur Shastri first because the member of Allahabad local body. Then be became the minister in the cabinet of Shri Govind ballabh pant. Later on he was invited by PT. Nehru to because the Railway minister in the cabinet of central government. He was then made home minister after the death of PT. Nehru he was elected the prime minister of India plRepublic. Shri Shastri guided the country out of food scar city with courage and determination. When Pakistan at tacked India he defeated the enemy and help the moral of the country high. He gave the slogan jai Jawan jai kissan after task and declaration he was shocked and died on Jan 2 1966 Although he is no more yet he he is in our hearts.  

PT. Jawahar LAL Nehru. Jawahar LAL Nehru was the architect of mod em India. To achieve economic Independence, he started five year Plans and got constructed multi purpose projects. He was born great and commanded the great respect from the masses of India. He was born on November 14,1889 at Allahabad. His father Shri Motilal Nehru was a lead ING lawyer of his town. He was brought up like a prince. After his early edueation at home by an En glish tutor he was sent to England for higher studies. He took his degree in Law from England and re turned to India as a barrister. Mahatma Gandhi and other great lead era of India freedom movement were trying to free our motherland from the yoke of foreign rule. PT. Nehru came in contact with Mahatma Gandhi. He also joined this struggle for freedom. He spent this part of life in jail's. He lost his beloved wife Kamal Nehru. He brought up his only daughter indra will great love and affection. On jaJanua26, 1929 under his President's hip of the Congress the independence resolution was passed at Lahore session. He was the author of Quit India Resolution. When India got Independence on August 15, 1937, PT Nehru was made the Prime Minister of free India.  As Prime Minister, PT. Nehru worked very hard. He followed the policy of Non alignment. He asked the youth of the country to work hard to make India a great nation in the world. Even in his advanced age he worked extremely hard which made even the young man blush. He earned great name and fame as the top leader of the world. He was no doubt, the apostle of peace. Nehru truly speaking was a great love of children who loved him dearly and called him cha-cha Nehru. It is due to his great love for chil Dren and children's love for him. His brithday in November 14 is celebrated as children day in the country every year. He was a great writer his auto biography glimpses of world history letters of a father to his Daughter all are some of his books which are acclaimed world wide. On May 27, 1964, he breathed his last.

Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan. Among the great names of front rank freedom fighters Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru Subhash Chandra Bose etc. Jaya Prakash Narayan also has his place. Like Subhash Chandra Bose he had an individuality of his own. He always stood firm by his conditions and no fear or consideration could bend him. He has always been an outspoken person no matter ever if it has brought him a bad mane. He has always advocated good relations between India and Pakistan. He was always opposed to the deten tion of sheikh Abdullah of Kashmir. For this he had to face adverse criticism also but the did not care for it. Born in a village in Bihar province on 11th October 1920 he grew up in village surroundings like any other village lad but he had his higher education in America. On his return to India, he came under the influence of ma hatma Gandhi Jawaharlal Nehru and java prakash Narayan were in those days considered to be the right and left hands of gandhiji has wift prabhaji daughter of a lawyer of Bihar always stood by him through thick and thin. Jaya Prakash Narayan took a very active part in the freedom movement and was jailed several times. He was a staunch gandhi for some time but later on he began to think a bit differently from gandhiji while in America he had developed love for the teachings ofarx so with the help of Acharya Narendra Dev and Achhuto Patwardhan he Founded in 1934 socialist party of India within the congress after all India became free on 15th August, 1947. Under the Prumeministershup of Jawahalal Nahru India had her own government. But jaya Prakash naray did not accept any office in the government. Since he did not have much say against Jawaharlal Nehru, he went into political wilderness for some time. However, he contin used to express his precious opinions on all national is sues. He joined Vinoba Bhave to help him in making his Bhoodan movement a success. He went with vinobaji on foot from village to village, collected a lot of land and had it distributed among the landless people. Service to the poor, the down trodden and outcasts became the aim of his life. In this area, his inspiration of the dacoits of chambal valley to surrender themselver unconditionally to the government gave him a new importance and his mane figured in the headlines of the newspaper. In 1973 he turned his attention to pilitices when he saw that politics was becoming a refuge of the scoundrels. He made the clarion call of total revolution. The youths of Gujarat and Bihar rose up of total revolution. The youths of Gujarat and Bihar rose up at his call and there was change of government in Gujarat.

Mahatma Gandhi Mahatma Gandhi whose birth dat celebrated ev_ wey year was the greatest man of his time. He was one of those famous sons of india who have guided the destiny of her people from time to time. He was born on October 2,1869 at Probandar in Gujarat. His mother was a religious and pious lady while his father kaba Gandhi was the Dewan of a small state in Rajkot. Ganduji joined the school at the age of seven. He was honest and sincere though he was not a very brilliant student. He was married to Kasturba at a small age of thri_ teen. He went to England to study law when he was only seventeen. He came back to india after qualifying himself for the bar. He started his practice in Bombay. He could not do well as a lawyer because he never liked to tell a lie. He however got a case for which he had to go south AF Rica. He was known as a coolie barrister there. He was moved by the pitiable condition of the Indians who were insulted and treated like doge every where in south Africa. Mahatma Gandhi became the leader of the Indians and struggled hard for the betterment of their lot. After some time he again came back to India he had now a greater aim before him. He wanted to make his country free from the British rule. After the First world war the British shot down some 1509 innocent Indian men women and children in theJakuanwala Bagh at a Amritsar. This tragedy and inhuman act pained Gandhiji very much. He started a non cooperation movement against the British Goverment. As a result thousands of volunteers tears had to go to jail.

It was mid winter. The air was bitterly cold he could not do without clothes. Instead of walking about the streets hendecided to slip into a big london store for warmith. 

BATTLE OF BOGRA  Her capture of Hilli complex by Indian forces paved the way for their advance towards BOGRA. In a way the battle of BOGRA was an extension of the battle of Hilli. The battle was found on 14_15 December 1971. BOGRA was an important town and vited Communication centre of East Pakistan. It was also the tactical head quarter of Pakistan 16 Infantry Division they had also made a light air strip here. The town was well connected with Dhaka and other East Pakistan towns by rail road and air. In view of the impending war with india the town had been turned into a strong military base.

AIR BATTLE OF SAINAGAR Pakistan sounded the bugle of the War by attacking major Indian airbases in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir at 1740 hours on 3 December 1971. But the first Pakistani air intrusion over Srinagar had come earlier on 39 November though it was a recce mission. The real air attack on Srinagar, however came on 3 December when six Pakistani Air Force PAF Sabres dropped bombs on Srinagar airfield causing some damage to the runway. However Indian pilots launched a number of attacks from the airbase on Pakistani troops intruding into Indian territory. No 121 Squadron based at Srinagar carried some 64 missions to attack enemy troops. Sixty Pakistani air raft raided the Srinagar base during the 14 days of the war but could cause little damage to the aircraft on the airbase. During the war airbase had become a favourite target for the PAF Pakistan Air Force as they knew that no radar could detect their intrusion owing to mountainous terrain of the surroundings. The reports of observation posts located alongside the border alone could be of some help. But such reports or say warnings could reach the base only a couple of minutes before the approach of the raiding craft  This hardly allowed time to the airbase to react to the threat. Luckily many of these PAF missions failed due to inaccurate firing and unexploded bombs. Some attacks which really threatened the airbase were tackled by the Indian Air Force IAF appropriately. Many such raids led to dog fights in which the Pakistanis were worsted. In one of these dog fights in 6 December, sqn Ldr VS Pathania engaged two Pakistani Sabres which came to strafe the airfield. On the Morning of 14 December six Pakistani aircrafts came to attack Srinagar airfield.soon these aircraft started orbiting over the airfield. Soon these aircraft started orbiting over the airfineld. At this juncture any attempt to take off with enemy aircraft overhead was inviting a mortal dander indeed. But unmindful of the grave danger two Gnats detachment of 18 Squadron which were in operational readiness scrambled to intercept them. Flt Lt BS Ghumman and Fg Offer Normal Hit Singh sekhin immediately got airborne. But Pakistani Sabres sooner than Fg offer sekhin took off a bomb landed on turned left to take position behind off Flt Lt Ghumman Meanwhile seakhin headed straight to engage the two enemy aircraft sekhin headed straight to engage the two enemy aircraft which had bombed the airfield.

BATTLE OF PUNCH It was the 3rd of Decemder 1971. Lt Col KL Rattan, the Commading Officer of 6 Sikh was scanning the reports cming in From his companies deployed along the border in Punch. the events were unfolding just as he had visualized and planned for. The enemy attack was imminent and the Battalion was fully prepared to face it. 6 Sikh had moved into 93 Infantry Brigade sector and had taken over the task of defending Punch in May 1971. Punch was strategically important to capture it earlier in the wars of 1947-48 and 1965 also. Pakistan was bound to make yet another attempt to grab it so as to have an easy route of access to the kashmir valley. The indin observation posts at the Forward Defended Localities (FDLS) had been reporting large movement of Pakistan vehicles carrying troops and stores for the past few months. Their recce and surveillance parties had also been seen all along the Line of Control (LoC), obviously gathering intelligence on Indian trioop deployment.
