Hope It is scarcely necessary to define the word hope for we all know what it means by experience. But it may be said that it is a combination of desire and expectation. We may desire something without expection to get it and we may expect something to happen that we certainly do not desire. But it is only when we expect to get what we desire that we hope. It is natural for man to hope. The post pope has put it well. Hope springs eternal in the human breast man never is but always be blessed.  That is we rarely think we have all we desire now but we think we shall have it sometime in the future. And it is well that hope has such a lot of vitality and is so hard to hard to kill. As a great man said we live by hope it is hope that keeps us alive. When a man loses all hope, or fails into despair, he must die we live a good deal in the future. On a dull day we comfort ourselves that it will be fine to morrow and wait till the clouds roll by. We bear up in illness because we.

Holidays There is one mush need of proving to most school boys that holidays are necessary. They are quite convinced that they are and most desirable too they welcome a holiday from school with hilarious joy and plague the headmaster on the least excuseter on the least excuse to let them off their lessons. It would be more in place to try to convince them of the necessity of work and study. Yet it may be desirable to show that regular intervals of rest and recreation are really necessary. As the old rhyme says. All work and no play, Makes jack a dull boy. Holiday at proper intervals are especially necessary for young people and for those engaged in hard mental work for continuous work without a break will injure the health and may cause a nervous break down. S short holiday rightly used will send us back to our work with renewed zest and vigour. Rightly used It all depends upon that. For holidays may be abused. It the holiday is spend in stupid idleness or in an exhausting round of exciting and playing or in any other unhealthy way the boy or man will come back to his work tired listless and uninterested. The holiday instead of doing good has done harm much more harm than steady work could ever do.

Hobbies Hoppy is an interesting pursuit. The word hoppy has been derived from hoppy horse which is a stick fitted with a wooden horse head which children ride for their amusement. We still talk of a man riding his hoppy. Si a hobby is an amusement and not our main business. What is a business to one man may be a hobby to another for example an actor may have interest in cricket an his hoppy and paid cricketer may go in for s ting as a recreation. There are very many kinds of hobbies. Collecting postage stamps is a common hoppy in India. England not only with boys and girls but withen too. Some make collection of books on novels and various other topics. Some hobbies do not cost must while other such as collecting picture old books curiosities and antiquities are only for the rich. Other hobbies take the go if games and sports. Many take up open air games like golf tennis cricket or football as their hobbies. Examinations  Examinations are ofter denounced as a bad system but they have their uses and the critice have never yet devised a system which will take their place.  In school and colleges and government as tast of efficiency there must be some visible proof that a boy is fit to be promoted to a higher class the next stage in his education and there must be some tangible guarantee that a young man leaving college has imbibed a certain amount of knowledge and undetgone a certain amount of mental training and.nefore anyone can be given a responsible post he must have a chance of showing that he has sufficient intelligence and knowledge to be safely entrusted with the duties of the position. Such a test is of special importance in such pratical professions as medicine for no one will want to entrust his health to a man who has not proved that he has sound knowledge of the human body the laws of health and the remedies for disease. In all these cases. The only practical test seems to be the examination.

Early Marriages and society  It is different to a good word for system of early Marriages. Their efforts upon the welfare of community seem to be wholly evil. India some of the evils are obscured and partially mitigated by the joint family system for the inexperienced of the family but in spite of this the system is a serious hindrance to the development of the nation. Every human being had a right to his childhood, which in some ways is the happiest and most blessed part of his life. But too many Indian children are robbed of their heritage. They must take up the burden of parentage before they are men and women. Very early childhood bearing must always be damage to her health. Many Indian women are old when their European sisters are in their prime of beauty and health. In many cases the boy husband suffering in another way. When the cares of parentage and a family are thrust upon him in extreme youth he has not the time leisure or opportunity for mental development. His education is hamperad. Moreover being always dependents on his family he cannot do easily learn the blessing of independence.

Joint Family A joint family was a Phenomena found only in India of the bygone days. This really meant that the parents with all their children and grandchilfren stayed together under one single roof. This system could prevail for decades for several reasons. First and foremost all the children stayed the same town as no one went out of the town to another distant town in search of job this made it possie for all children to remain in town an that also in the same house. Secondly, and more importantly the sons and daughters in lwas were all treated as one family one all these members were obliged to listen to the dictates of the elders. This made them succumb into staying with the the parents even if they did not like the idea. This system of joint family continued in India till the advent of the British Raj with which came the British culture. Now the culture of single unit families was borrowed by India from their British counterparts. At that time little society single unit families started evolving in India. This happened in the middle of the current century. There is nothing in the world without advantages and disadvantages, it remaine to be true of the joint family system also the system but its flaws and great advantages.

Lesson we learn from History History is one subject in the galaxy of subjects that teaches its readers not only the subject but also lot of wisdom. Most people hold the view that history is just a chronological order. True history is a cheonological list of events. But if was if we are not going the subject it's corrrct status. The evolution of man itself is based on history his progress and most of his scintific and technological developments are all the results of man history. It the history of evolution had not been confince into history books and if we had not read these books how would we know about our past and how would we maintain the tempo of development and pripgress. Man learnt from his mistakes his development and progress. Man learnt from his mistakes his experiences the shortcoming of his ancestors and shortcomings of his ancestors and continued to progress. Is this not a contribution of history?  Does this not make the study of history impotant for us the one single subject that had contributed so immensely to the constant and continuous growth of civilization is the history. It we learn from History, we humans will certainly continue to forge head and become a more and more disciplined and cultured force.

The Aeroplane ✈️ ?  Nowadays marvelous scientific discoveries come upon us so thick and fast that we have almost lost the capacity for wouder. Yet although aeroplane are almost as familiar to us motor car we cannot help stopping and starting wherever in the sun passes over heards. And it is well indeed that we should wouder for how marvelous a thing it is that men have conquered the air and can now fly in the sky like birds and this has been done in our own day for the invention is so recent that if people had been told only twenty five years ago that we should be flying to das they would have laughed the prophecy to scorn. The invention of the Aeroplane will bring about as great a revolution men habits as that of the railway engine and rhensteam ship a hundred years ago. Then the world shrank in siza for whereas in the old days it is now only three weeks away by steamer and railway train. But the size of the world will shrink much more now. When in a few years time we have a regular air service between karachi and london England will be only five days away.

Superstition  Belief which has no basic in reason is superstition. Superstition is the daughter of ignorance and fear. The world literally means standing still at a thing in fear or awe. In religion superstition means irrational fear of the mysterious and reverence for objects which are not proper objects of worship. Ignorant savages have no scientific knowledge of what we call the forces of nature they think the sun and the moon find and wind and water are governed by aupematural beings who sometimes seen kind but more ofter terrible and cruel. These they fear and senseless rites. And their imagination people the universe with imaginary beings demons ghoste and fairies.as knowledge grows superstition dies and to day we laugh at such beliefs and fears as at the fillies of childhood. But you superstition dies slowly and even in civilized countries to day silly bits of superstition still linger. You still find people who think the number thirteen unlucky who will not walk under a ladder who feel troubled if they upset the salt or see the new moon through glass and who do not like starting a journey on a Friday. A tree is judged by its fruits and the fruits of superstition are all evil. It has been responsible for a vast amount of cruelty and madness.

Strikes A strike is the refusal of an organized body of workmen to continue their work except on certain wrong and some peoe denounce strikes as always wrong and foolish and even say they should be forbidden by law and put down byforce. Such people know nothing of and history of strikes nor of the great benefit they have secured for the working classes.  Strikes are a natural result of our modem industrial systems. They came into fashion with the present age ofachinery and large factories. Before workmen had learned thesecret of combination, they were at the merey of their rich and powerful employers who kept wages low and forced them to work long hours. They could do this because each individual workmen, poor and ignorant was no match for a rich and influential emplover. It he did not agree to the employer hard terms he could be dismissed for there were dozens ready to take his place. He must submit and they banded themselves into organized societies called trades unions. Formerly when a single workmen demanded higher wegas he was promptly kicked out but when all the workmen in a factory struck in a body, or refused to work,
