Summary . This poem by John eeryma.is about losing something that you love and learning to grow up.it is about a little boy who for the first time in his young life is learning what it is like experience grief at the loss of a much beloved possession his ball to us the loss of a is of minor consequence money cannot buy back our love nor replace the things that we love . In this world people will take balls just as they will take away our innocence and force us to grow up into money minded individuals. And once we lose this innocence we can can never get it back this poem goes to show how all throughout life you will be for to do things that you don't want to do and you will lose or have to give up the things that you love you have to learn to accept and let go and not cling into something that you can never have.

OUR elders are often heard reminiscing nostalgically about those good old Portuguese days, the Portuguese and their famous places of bread. Those eaters of loaves might have vanished but the makers are still there. We still have amongst us the mixers the moulders and those who bake the loaves. Those age old timetested furnaces still exist the fire in the furnaces has not yet been extinguish . The thud and jingle of the traditional baker bamboo heralding his arrival in the morning can still be heard in some places. Are even today known as pader in Goa. During our childhood in Goa the baker used to be our friend companion and guide. He used to come at least twice a day. Once when he set out in the morning on his selling round and then again when he returned after emptying his huge basket the jingling thud of his bamboo woke us up from sleep and we ran to meet and greet him why was it so was it for the love of the load Not at all the loaver were bought by some padkine or bastine the maid servant of the house what we longed for were those bread bangles which we chose carefully sometimes it was sweet bread of special make. The baker made his musical entry on the scene with the jhang jhang sound of his specially made bamboo staff. One hand supported basket on his head and the other banged the bamboo on the ground he would greet the lady of the house with good morning and then place his basket on the vertical bamboo we kids would be pushed aside with a mild rebuke and the loves would be delivered to the servant but we would not give morning

I love to rise in a summer morn, when the birds sing on every tree , the distant huntsman winds his horn and the sky lark sings with me. O! What sweet company. But to go to school in a summer morn, o! It drives all joy away; under a cruel eye out worn, the little ones spend the day, In signing and dismay How can the bird that is born for joy, sit in a cage and sing. How can a chil when fears annoy, but droop his tender wing and forget his youthful spring. O! Father and mother if buds are nip d and blossoms blown away, And if the tender plants are strip d Of their joy in the springing day by sorrow and cares dismay how shall the summer arise in joy or the summer fruits appear from the school boy by William Blake .

Her favourite pastime was standing in the front doorway of her house watching what was happening in the street outside. There were no playmates of her own age on her street and this was about all she had to do. But for Valli standing at the front door was every bit as enjoyable as any of the elaborate games other children played. Watching the street gave her many new unusual experiences. The most fascinating thing of all was the bus that travelled between her village and the nearest town. It passed through her street each hour, once going to the town and once coming back. The sight of the bus, filled each time with a new set of passengers was a source of unending joy for Valli. Day after day she watched the bus and gradually a tiny wish creot into her head and grew there she wanted to ride on that bus even if just of just once.
