Plants around us 

We see different types of plants around us. Plants are very useful for us. 

  Parts of a plant

A plant has many parts like stem, roots, leaves, fowers etc .

Each part does a specific function. 

1.   Stem keeps the plant erect. Leaves, flowers and branches grow from it. 

2.   Roots fix the plant to the soil. They usually grow under the ground. 

3.   Leaves are usually green in colour and make food for the plant .

4.  Flowers are very attractive parts of a plant. They produce fruits. 

5.   Seeds grow into new plants 

  Types of plants 

There are different types of plants like given below. 

     Trees

They are very big tall and strong plants. They have thick, brown and woodl stem called trunk. They have many branches that bear leaves, flowers and fruits. Their roots are also thick and strong which grip them firmly to the ground. They can survive for several years. Mango, coconut, peepal, neem, etc, are examples of trees 

   Shrubs

Shrubs have many things brown and woody stems. Their branches grow very close to the ground. They are not as big as trees. They are also called bushes. They survive only for a few  years. Rose, hibiscus and henna are the examples of shrubs.

  Transport and communication 

We all need to go from one place to another. We use various various versions to go from one place to another. These are called the means of transport. There are different means of transport.

  Land transport 

All the vehicle that move on land, like cycles, rickshaws, cars, buses, trucks and trains are called means of land transport. Land transport is the most common way of transport in our country. It has better connectivity throughout the country.

Cycles, rickshaws and carts are pulled by humans or animals.on the other hand, vehicles like cars, buses, motorcycles, trucks, etc, are run by petrol or diesel.

The means of transport that move on water are called the means of water transport. Ship, steamer, boat and sailboat are means of water transport. They are used to cross sea, ocean, lake canal or river. The ships that carry heavy loads are called cargo ships.

We live in a house. All the house near or around out house make our neighbourhood. The people living in our neighbourhood are out Neighbours. There are many services provider by our

Neighbourshood. Good neighbour along with useful facilities make our life comfortable.

       A Good Neighbour 

We should be a good neighbour.we should be helpful and friendly to out Neighbours. We should not make out neighbourhood dirty. We should not disturb our  neighbours.we never misuse the facilities provided to us. 

Services in a neighbourhood 

These are many useful services in a good neighbourhood. They make our life easier and more comfortable.

     School 

These is a school in a good neighbourhood. Children go to school to learn how to read and write. Here, teacher teach us and principal is the head of the school 

    Post office 

Post office is also an important place in the neighbourhood. We can send letters, postcards, money orders and parcel through the post office.the letters and parcel from various places are also received here. The postman sorts the letters based on the address written on them and delivers them at our doorstep.we can purchase postcards, envelopes, inland letters and stamps from there. 

    Hospital 

A hospital takes care of sick and injured people. There are doctors and nurses in a house. They look after the patients. Almost every hospital has an ambulance that brings sick and injured people to the hospital.

Police station 

Every neighbourhood has a police station. A police station is a place where we can complain regarding any law and order problem. Each locality is looking after by a particular police station. There are policemen in a police station. Police maintain law and order in the neighbourhood.

     Our House 

We need a house to live in.our House protects us from the sun rain cold and storm. It keeps away dust dirt and insects. It also keeps us safe from thieves and stray animals.there are different types of house ?.

                Temporary Houses

Some people need to move around a lot. They take their house around with them. These are also called temporary Houses. They live in tents, caravans or house boat. These houses can moved easily from one place to another. A tents is made of canvas cloth, plastic or other waterproof material. It is supposed by one or more poles. It is used by campers and  soldiers. A houseboat floats on water. It is a boat that has been designed to be used as a house.

             Permanent house 

Some people live in a place for a long time. They build permanent house for themselves. Kutcha house, pucca house, stilt house and igloo are examples of permanent house.

We can see kutcha house usually in Village. They are made of mud, wood,        bamboo, clay and straw. They are not strong house. They are also called huts.

       Pucca house 

Pucca house are mads of bricks, cement, steel, iron, concrete and wood. Concrete is the mixture of cement,sand, small, stones and water. Pucca houses are strong house.we can see pucca house mostly in cities. However, they also can be seen in some Village. Bungalow, apartment, single - storey and double storey house are the examples of pucca house.

              Stilt house 

These houses are found in the above the ground areas with very heavy rainfall. They are built on above the ground high bamboo poles called stilt.

               THE ACCIDENTAL TOURIST

Of all the things I am not not very good at living in the real world is perhaps the most outstanding , I am constantly filled with wonder at the number of things that other people do without any evident difficlty that are pretty much beyond me. I  cannot tell you the number of times that in an alley on the wrong sids of a selfocking door, my particular specialty now is returning to hotel desks two or three times a day and askind what my room number is I am in short easily confused. I was thinking about this the last time we went en famille on a big trip. it was at easter, and we werew flying to england for a week. when we arrived at logan airport in boston and were checking in I subbenly remembered that I had recently joined british airways frequent flyer programme.

                                The Adventures of Toto

Grandfather bought toto a from a tonga driver for the sum of five rupees. The tonga driver used to keep the little rad monkey  tied to a feeding trough and the monkey looked so out of place there that Grandfather decidsd he would add the little fellow to his private zoo.

Toto was a pretty monkey . his bright eyes sparklsd with mischief beneath deep set eyebrows, and his his teeth which were a pearly white were very often displayed in a smils that frightened the life out of elderly angio Indian ladies. But his hands looked dried up as though they had been pickled in the sun for many years. yet his fingers were quick and wicked and his tail while adding to his good looks  [ Grand father belived a tail would add to anyone good looks ] also served as a third hand . He could use it to hang from a branch and it was capadle of scooping up any delicacy that minght be out of rach of his hands.Grabdmother always fussed when Grandfather brought home some new bird or animal. So it was decided that Toto presence should be keot a secret be kept a secret from her until she was in a particlarly good mood. Grandfather and I put him away in a little closet opening into my bedroom wall where he was tied securely bor so we thought to a peg fastened into the wall. A few hours later when grandfather and I came back to releasae Toto we found that the walls which had been covered with some ornamental paper chosen by Grandfather, now stood out as naked brick and plaster. the peg in the wall had been wrenched from its socket and my school biazer which had been hanging there was in shreds. I wondered what Grandmother would say .But Grandfather did worry he seemed pleased with toto performance.

As we know electricity is one of the important forms of energy. In the previous class we learnt about various aspects of electricity such as its sources materials which allow to pass it through the I.c conditiond and those who do not allow to pass it through them insulators some devices based on it its significance in modern life and also the dangers and harms association with it and precautions while using it. The flow of electricity energy or electricity is called electric current .the ele8current passaes through conducting material which is generally in the form of wites. However on commercial scale electric current is supplied through cables to out houes offices shops factories etc electricity is used for various purposes such as lighting heating driving electricity  

Water is renewable natural resourc. It is vital body fluidics  which regulates life processes such as digestion of food transportation of nutrients and excretion of body wastes etc. It is also required for the germination of seeds. Water is an important participant of photosynthesis.  Water provides  habitat

To many animals and plants.  All animals and plants living in water are adapted to live in water.  There is enough fresh water on the earth to meet our present requirements. But there is a global shortage of usable water.  At Many places there is an acute shortage of water.  It is estimated that a few years from now more than one third of the people on our earth will not get sufficient water to live. The water table is falling in most areas. It something is not done to check it soon we will be facing water crisis. To prevent it we should have water.  As a part of community efforts in this direction water harvesting is being encouraged.

About 71 per cent of earth surface is covered with water. 

About 97.4 per cent cent of the total water on the earth is in ocean and Sean's. The water in oceans and seas cannot be used for drinking domestic use irrigation and industrial use because it contains many sales.
