STDs can affect anyone sexually active, and symptoms vary widely-some infections show no signs for years. Here's what to watch for
✔ Chlamydia & Gonorrhea:
Men: Burning urination, white/yellow discharge, testicular pain.
Women: Vaginal discharge, pelvic pain, bleeding between periods (often asymptomatic). ✔ Syphilis:
Stage 1: Painless sore (chancre) on genitals/anus/mouth.
Stage 2: Rash (palms/soles), fever, swollen lymph nodes.
Late stage: Organ damage (heart, brain).
✔ HIV (Early Stage):
Flu-like symptoms (fever, rash, sore throat) 2–4 weeks post-exposure.
✔ Herpes (HSV-1/HSV-2):
Painful blisters/sores on genitals/mouth, itching, flu-like symptoms during outbreaks.
✔ HPV (Genital Warts):
Flesh-colored bumps on genitals/anus (some strains cause cancer).
✔ Hepatitis B/C:
Fatigue, jaundice (yellow skin/eyes), dark urine.
✔ Trichomoniasis:
Frothy, foul-smelling vaginal discharge (women), itching/burning (men often asymptomatic).
✔ Pubic Lice ("Crabs"):
Itching, visible lice/eggs in pubic hair.
Many STDs (e.g., HPV, Chlamydia) show NO symptoms but still cause long-term harm (infertility, cancer).
✔ After unprotected sex (even with no symptoms).
✔ New or multiple partners.
✔ Unusual discharge, sores, or itching.
✔ Women: Annual chlamydia/gonorrhea tests if <25 or high-risk.
Tests Include:
Swabs (genital, throat, rectum).
Blood tests (HIV, syphilis, hepatitis).
Urine tests (chlamydia, gonorrhea).
