Kathmandu  At Pashupatinath (outside which a sign proclaims 'Entrancefor the Hindus only ') there is an atmosphere of ' febrile confusion '. Priests,hawkers, devotees, tourists cows, monkeys , Pigeons and dogs roam through the grounds. We offer a few flowers. There are so many worshippers that some people trying to get the priest's attention are elbowed asid... Read More

At Pashupatinath (outside which a sign proclaims 'Entrancefor the Hindus only ') there is an atmosphere of ' febrile confusion '.

Priests,hawkers, devotees, tourists cows, monkeys , Pigeons and dogs roam through the grounds.

We offer a few flowers. There are so many worshippers that some people trying to get the priest's attention are elbowed aside by others pushing their wey to the front.

A princess of the Nepalese royal house appears; everyone bows and makes wey .

By the main gate ,a party of saffron - clad Westerners struggle for permission to enter.

The policeman is not convinced that they are ' the Hindus ' ( only Hindus are elbowed to enter the temple).

Iswaran The Storyteller  

The story was narrated to Ganesha by a young man, Mahendra by name.

He was a junior supervisor in a firm which offered on hire supervisor at various types of construction sites: factories, bridges, dams, and so on.☺️

Mahendra'' s job was to keep an eye on the activities at the work site.?

He had to keep moving from place to place every now and then as ordered by his head office: from a coal mining area to a railway bridge construction sites, from there after a few minutes to a chemical plant which was coming up somewhere. ?

He was a bachelor.

His needs were simple and he was able to adjust himself to all kinds of construction, whether it was an ill-equipped circuit house or a makeshift canvas tent in the middle of a stone quarry ​​​​​​.?

But one asset he had was his cook , Iswaran.

The cook was quite attached to Mahendra and followed him uncomplaining wherever he was posted.?

He cooked for Mahendra washed his clothes and chatted away with his master at night.?

He could weave out  endless stories and anecdotes on varied subjects.?

My father Jainulabdeen, had neither much formal education nor much wealth;despite these disadvantages, he possessed great innate wisdom and a true generosity of spirit .☺️

He had an ideal halpmate in my mother, Ashiamma.?

I do not recall the exact number of people she fad every day , but.?

I am quite certain that far more outsiders ate with us than all the members of our family put together.?
