Among the great names of front rank freedom fighters Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru Subhash Chandra Bose etc. Jaya Prakash Narayan also has his place. Like Subhash Chandra Bose he had an individuality of his own. He always stood firm by his conditions and no fear or consideration could bend him. He has always been an outspoken person no matter ever if it has brought him a bad mane. He has always advocated good relations between India and Pakistan. He was always opposed to the deten tion of sheikh Abdullah of Kashmir. For this he had to face adverse criticism also but the did not care for it.

Born in a village in Bihar province on 11th October 1920 he grew up in village surroundings like any other village lad but he had his higher education in America. On his return to India, he came under the influence of ma hatma Gandhi Jawaharlal Nehru and java prakash Narayan were in those days considered to be the right and left hands of gandhiji has wift prabhaji daughter of a lawyer of Bihar always stood by him through thick and thin.

Jaya Prakash Narayan took a very active part in the freedom movement and was jailed several times. He was a staunch gandhi for some time but later on he began to think a bit differently from gandhiji while in America he had developed love for the teachings ofarx so with the help of Acharya Narendra Dev and Achhuto Patwardhan he Founded in 1934 socialist party of India within the congress after all India became free on 15th August, 1947. Under the Prumeministershup of Jawahalal Nahru India had her own government. But jaya Prakash naray did not accept any office in the government. Since he did not have much say against Jawaharlal Nehru, he went into political wilderness for some time. However, he contin used to express his precious opinions on all national is sues. He joined Vinoba Bhave to help him in making his Bhoodan movement a success. He went with vinobaji on foot from village to village, collected a lot of land and had it distributed among the landless people. Service to the poor, the down trodden and outcasts became the aim of his life. In this area, his inspiration of the dacoits of chambal valley to surrender themselver unconditionally to the government gave him a new importance and his mane figured in the headlines of the newspaper.

In 1973 he turned his attention to pilitices when he saw that politics was becoming a refuge of the scoundrels. He made the clarion call of total revolution. The youths of Gujarat and Bihar rose up of total revolution. The youths of Gujarat and Bihar rose up at his call and there was change of government in Gujarat.
